I'm standing in the rain on a hot summer night
The smell of wet grass overwhelms my senses and drifts me away
I float across the field without a care in the world
Then my memory takes me to the dawn of this day
A scene plays out in the back of my head
Shades of gray and I can't understand what's being said
The expression on your face tells me a story I don't want to hear

The scene plays out and I remember what you said
'I have to leave you, my love for you is dead'
I stand there and stare,
Unaware of the dagger that pierced my chest
As the blood slowly tears down from my heart
I smile and ask: 'Surely you jest?'
I watch you walk away from me to never return

Now the rain has stopped pouring, I am back on the field
I look at the time and I can see the hours passed by
I'm starting to shiver, but you haven't returned to me yet
As I wait for you to come back
I say to myself: 'I wish we never met'
